WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights From June 7 (2024)

After last week's not-so-shocking betrayal by AJ Styles, Cody Rhodes came to this week's show looking for a fight.

Here is a look at what WWE advertised prior to the show:

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Friday's show.

SmackDown opened with the usual recap videos before the new Bloodline came out to anoint Tonga Loa into the family. Paul Heyman was his usual nervous self as he laid out what was happening.

Not only was Loa officially accepted into the group, but Tama was named Sikoa's right-hand man. After some more tension, Kevin Owens came out and attacked everyone by himself. As soon as KO was taken down, the Street Profits made the save.

After a break, the first match featured Belair and Cargill taking on Hartwell and LeRae. Before the match began, a recap of Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre's attack on the women's tag champs was played, so we knew that would come into play at some point. Not only did they show up as the bell rang, but so did Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler.

The match played out as expected. We got some fun moments and double-team spots, but nothing from the match itself was noteworthy. The tag champs won, but their celebration was short-lived. Stark, Baszler, Fyre and Dawn attacked them to make a statement. This was all logical for the story WWE is building to an eventual Fatal 4-Way for the titles.

Result: Belair and Cargill defeated Hartwell and LeRae

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observations

The men's tag division was featured in the next singles match when Waller, who is half of the tag champs on SmackDown, took on Gargano.

Waller used his size to his advantage to take control early, but Gargano's speed and experience helped him even the playing field.

Austin Theory and Tommaso Ciampa were there to support their respective teammates. For the most part, they played good cheerleaders and didn't interfere too much.

Both of these guys are fantastic athletes, and while Gargano's experience was evident, you could also see how far Waller has come as an in-ring performer. At no point did he feel out of place in the ring with a veteran.

The Australian Superstar scored a win with his finisher and celebrated while Theory was injured at ringside due to a suicide dive from Gargano. He looked upset that his partner did not come to his aide.

Result: Waller defeated Gargano

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

Rhodes was shown waiting for Styles to arrive but when security intervened, The American Nightmare marched to the ring and demanded The Phenomenal One face him.

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were with Styles as he arrived. He said he doesn't care what Rhodes wants, but The American Nightmare suggested an I Quit match. Aldis agreed before a huge brawl broke out with Rhodes and the security team.

After the break, the bout Aldis booked for Hayes and Knight took place. Melo took the first few shots at his opponent to come out of the gate hot, but Knight fired back after he had a moment to recover.

The Megastar ended up winning by reversing a pinning combination and getting the three-count. He grabbed a headset and addressed Logan Paul by saying he would come find him.

This likely won't be the last bout in this feud. It was good, but it never felt like a conclusion. Hayes is going to get his win back eventually.

Result: Knight defeated Hayes

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

Bayley was in the ring for a promo and was interrupted by Piper Niven and Chelsea Green. Niven ended up shining in this segment and came across as an intimidating presence.

Due to what happened during the opening segment, KO, Ford and Dawkins teamed up to take on Sikoa, Tama and Loa. B-Fab came out but did not stay for the match.

Unsurprisingly, these six men brought the same fire and energy to this match as they did to the brawl at the top of the show. It didn't just look like they all wanted to win. It looked like The Bloodline was out to injure its opponents.

Sikoa nailed Ford with a Spear instead of his usual Samoan Spike before everyone from The Bloodline put KO through the announce desk with a triple powerbomb.

The match ended in a disqualification, but The Bloodline were the ones standing tall when it was over.

Result: KO and Profits won by DQ

Notable Moments and Observations

This week's episode of SmackDown was one of those shows that had some good stuff but nothing that could be called must-see TV.

Other than a couple of matches being set up for Clash at the Castle, we didn't have any surprising revelations or surprises. It was all business as usual.

The six-man main event was probably the best match in the eyes of a lot of fans, but Waller and Gargano was a lot of fun and had a clean finish.

WWE is doing a good job making CATC look like a PPV worth seeing. Styles and Rhodes in a rematch will definitely be a highlight, and their segment tonight was a good way to set up the stipulation.
