What are the tips for indoor skydiving? ›

For the best experience, it's important to keep your body straight and arched in the air; this will allow you to feel the sensations of freefall in a more stable and intense way. You should also keep your arms in front of you, with your elbows slightly bent.

We replicate the skydiving experience and offer flights which are about 1½ times longer than a tandem jump. So each flight is around 55 seconds, often a bit longer but never shorter than 50 seconds.

If you have a history of neck, back, heart problems, or have previously suffered a shoulder dislocation or shoulder injury, you should seek advice from your doctor before flying.

You won't necessarily experience a “falling feeling” or “stomach drop” while you are indoor skydiving, because a normal flight typically happens a few feet off of the ground – or on a metal net that covers the wind tunnel hole – keeping you from falling all of the way down.

Yes, maximum weight limits are in place for the safety of the flyer and the instructor. People under 6 feet can weigh a maximum of 250 lbs; those over 6 feet can weigh up to 260 lbs. There is no weight minimum because we manually control the wind speed in the tunnel.

Take slow, controlled breaths in through your nose and push out through your mouth.

Those risks are typically limited to the small bumps and bruises that can be obtained from minor collisions with the tunnel walls; if you're flying with other people, there's always the risk that you could collide with one another and tumble around a bit, but we minimize that risk through training.

It's thrilling, but not scary in any way. I felt safe the entire time. They keep an instructor by your side, guiding you so you don't spiral out of control. Like most adventure sports, there is a learning curve.

On an actual skydive, there are nothing but views: a big vast open world around you to explore. On a skydive, you see the world from an aerial view. You see boundless space—no walls around you, no barriers, just freedom. All in all, indoor skydiving is just a simulation, and most birds don't do well in cages.

How long does iFLY experience last? ›

How long will I be at iFLY? As a rule of thumb, we ask all flyers to arrive 45 minutes before their stated flight time, and you can expect to be on site for approximately 1 1/2 hours.

You absolutely can breathe while skydiving! You should be able to take normal breaths in freefall and under the parachute just like you would on the ground. There is plenty of oxygen available to you for the entirety of your jump – in unlimited supply, in fact!

Indoor skydiving allows you to experience the thrill of skydiving without having to jump off a plane 15,000 ft off the ground. You float mid-air over a cushion of gushing air at speeds of 200 km/h in a vertical wind tunnel, allowing you to experience free fall as you would in an actual skydive.

Indoor skydiving requires the body to bend and move in ways that are initially unnatural, and it takes a while for those muscles to build up resistance to the wind. When we move muscles that aren't used to working, lactic acid is released into them, and this is what causes us to have that satisfactory soreness.

Is it difficult to breathe in the wind tunnel? No, it's just like breathing normally actually…..so there is no specialist breathing equipment required. Just relax and breathing will come naturally.
